New edition of our book launched

2011 has been quite busy so far, with the launch of the second edition of our book and now a revamped website.

Since the first edition of Bullying in the Workplace: An Occupational Hazard was published, we’ve been inundated with stories and appeals for help from victims of bullying – by email, post, telephone and in person:

  • I wonder, do you know anyone who may be able to help me to get some justice? I am a lone female who is very sick and frightened.
  • I feel totally spent and shattered and worn out.
  • I had no idea what was going on until I became so ill that I could no longer face going to work.
  • Now is where my own hell begins as I have to look forward I expect to a life of poverty and CentreLink benefits only.
  • My health and career prospects are in tatters.
  • I’d throw up every morning before work, I hated walking into the building, but I needed the job.

Many of our correspondents are still traumatized years after the bullying ‘finished’ (I put that word in quotation marks because it is rare to find a victim who has been able to put the situation completely behind them). Some have been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress.

We hope this new edition of our book will continue to help victims, the professionals who assist those victims, workers and bosses to recognize bullying behaviour and prompt them to do something about it.
